Book Cover/Dust Jacket Design

You've heard the old saying "Don't judge a book by it's cover"? Well we don't believe it. Most of the people generally DO judge a book by its cover. If the cover is intriguing the reader will be opt to give it more than just a quick glance. The cover is an important part of the book, after all it is the first thing the reader will see, so it should reflect the genre, theme, mood and style of the book.

At TechnicaCon, our cover design professionals will create an outstanding book cover design for your book. We provide professional 4-Color book cover design. After the initial consultation, the designer will produce 2 or 3 sample book cover designs which may be altered to produce the final draft.

Our designers work colsely with the clients to create a custom 4-Color book cover design. The design will also need to take into consideration the number of ink colors that will be used to print the cover. Most covers are printed in Four Color Process which allows for use of full color images. If printing costs only allow for one or two colors the design will usually use black or another dark color and a contrasting or complimentary color to create a very effective two-color cover.

There are three elements of a cover design for a book:

  • The Front Cover
  • The Spine
  • The Back Cover

These all play an equally important role in enticing the reader to choose the book. These three elements should flow together seamlessly with an overall balance in Color and Design. After all Book Cover is an important part of the book, as it is the first thing the reader will see, so it should reflect the genre, theme, mood and style of the book.
